FAQs
The questions you're probably already thinking about.
How do I know if I even “need” therapy?
1
You don't have to be in crisis to deserve support. If something's been sitting heavy, if you keep circling the same thing, or if you're just curious what it'd be like to have a person in your corner, that's reason enough. Therapy isn't only for emergencies. It's also for becoming more in tune with yourself. I’m a huge proponent of the idea that pretty much everyone could benefit from having a judgement free space to talk things out with someone who is a little more objective than your friends and family.
What's a consultation, and what happens after?
2
It's a free, casual 15 minute call where we talk about what's bringing you in and figure out whether we're a good fit. If it feels right, you’ll be able to schedule a first session. If it doesn't, I'll happily point you toward someone who might be a better match. No pressure either way- I’m here to help you find what works for you, and I’m lucky to know many fantastic therapists and practitioners local to the metro-Atlanta area.
I've never done therapy before. Is that weird?
3
Not even a little bit! Many of my clients are first-timers, and "I have no idea how this works" is a completely normal and great place to start. I'll walk you through everything. You don't have to be good at therapy to come to therapy.
Is this really a judgment-free space for kink, nonmonogamy, queer identities and trans folks?
4
Yes, and genuinely, not as a buzzword. I am not here to pathologize your relationship structure, your identity, or your desires, and you won't have to teach me the basics to be understood. It’s incredibly frustrating to feel like you have to act as an expert and educator when you’re seeking support, and I want you to feel able to jump into “the work” without putting on your teaching hat.
Do you work with more than two people in a relationship?
5
I do. Relationships come in lots of shapes, sizes and structures, and all of them are welcome here.
Do you take insurance?
6
There's no set answer. Some people come for a specific reason or season; others stay longer because they like having the space. We'll check in regularly about what's working.
How long will I be in therapy?
7
Short answer: No, I don’t.
Long(er) answer: I don’t work directly with insurance providers. I do, however, provide superbills as frequently as you’d like for you to submit to your insurance for out of network benefits. I’m also always happy to chat about why I don’t take insurance- the answer might surprise you!
